How to Prepare for your Studio Session at North City Studio in Shoreline, WA | Eickhoff Photography

At Eickhoff Photography, we LOVE shooting outdoors in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, but we also understand that the Seattle rainy season can put a damper on locations for family photos. We have recently discovered a beautiful studio in north Seattle and I am so excited to offer this studio option for my families. The studio is available year round and is perfect for milestone photos, cake smash photos, winter family photos, if you missed the fall leaves, and branding/headshots. I will also plan to host select mini session days at the studio to make photographing you and your family as quick and painless as possible ;).

Pros to shooting in the studio:

·      There is no need to worry about the weather =)

·      We can turn on your favorite tunes while we shoot.

·      If we want to change up the look, we can just turn around and use the other side of the studio

·      The bathroom is only a few feet away with space for outfit changes.

·      Beautiful white walls bounce the light around for gorgeous photos.

·      No need to pick up your house ;)

·      It’s right here in Shoreline, WA!

If this is your first time visiting me at the studio for your photo session, there are a few things to know that will make your session run smoothly and feel most enjoyable.

·      Just because we’re in the studio does not mean your photos need to look stiff or awkward! I still adore connected photos that showcase all the joy and love in your family. I will still ask you to look at each other, tell each other jokes and stories, or snuggle in close right before the tickle monster strikes. Read more tips on achieving connected looking photos.

·      The studio has many furniture items, tapestries, and seamless paper backdrop colors to choose from for styling your session to fit exactly what you are looking for. As we are planning your studio session, let’s discuss the look you are interested in and plan out some setups that will help you achieve your vision.

·      Do you have some favorite music you’d like to vibe to during your session? Let me know your preferences ahead of time and I will cue up the tunes before you arrive to set the mood for a great time.

 ·      Because we have downstairs neighbors, we ask that families use indoor voices and quiet feet so as not to disturb the neighbors. No jumping, stomping, or shouting, please.

·      The studio has a private bathroom available for your use throughout our session and a small side room in case you need to take a little break during our session.

·      The studio has beautiful natural light, particularly during the brighter seasons in Seattle. However, if it is a little dark out, don’t worry, we will use additional lighting to create beautiful portraits with a natural light look.

Location

·      North City Studio is located at 1539 Northeast 177th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155

Parking

WEEKEND PARKING:

Please park ONE car in front of the studio. If there is no room in front of the building, feel free to park in the lot just west of us at the karate building or at the water district building. If your family is coming in multiple vehicles, please park at the Karate or Water District lot. No parking is allowed in the back lot behind the building.

WEEKDAY PARKING:

Please park ONE car in front of the studio. No parking is allowed in the back lot behind the building or in front of the karate building.

·      The studio is upstairs. At your session time, I will meet you at the middle door of the building and we will go up the stairs and to the right to reach the studio space. This space is not ADA wheelchair accessible. If you are interested in photos, but require accessibility without stairs, I would love to talk with you more about accessible outdoor options or a photo session in your home. Please reach out to me for more information.

For mini sessions:

·      Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your session (dressed and ready to be photographed) and wait in your car until just before your session time as only one family is allowed in the studio at a time.

·      Mini Sessions will have 2-3 pre set spaces for photos. Because of the nature of mini sessions, there is not time to change out sets during your shoot. If you are interested in mixing it up and creating more studio looks, consider booking a full session of studio time so that we can utilize all of the furniture and backdrops desired.

·      Also, due to the shortened nature of mini sessions, outfit changes are not available.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!
