Top Reasons for NOT Having Family Photos Taken | Eickhoff Photography | Seattle, WA

I’ve heard people over the years give several reasons for not having professional family photos taken. But a true professional photographer will be able to help you handle the stress and look amazing, dispelling any concerns that you have about getting your family in photos together.  These are the top reasons that clients have given for not wanting to get in front of the lens and why I think you can get great photos of your family even if you have all of these fears!

1.     “My House is too Messy”

There are several solutions to this problem. We can shoot at an outdoor location. We can reserve studio time and shoot in a studio. Or we can move some things around in your home to make things look a little less cluttered and better fit the aesthetic you’re looking for. Read more about how we can make your house look great in photos here.

2.     “I don’t like how I look and want to lose another 5 pounds.“

I understand this one so much. I struggled with being in photos after my second munchkin was born. I was not happy with how I looked and I did not have the same level of confidence. But my kids absolutely love the photos of us together from that time. Read more about why I think you should be in the photo here.

3.     “My kids are too (spicy, out of control, shy, crazy, wiggly), I’m not sure if they can handle a photo shoot.”

This is a common concern, lol. Give me a chance to work some magic and capture some sweet and cute moments amongst all of the chaos. 4.     “My partner isn’t really into photos.”

You can tell your partner that I will do my best to make the experience as quick and painless as possible, but there are some even better reasons to take photos with your family. Feel free to send them the link to this extremely short post to convince them ;)

 5.     “I don’t think I can get the kids to look at the camera.”

This is the easiest problem to solve! I love lifestyle photography and capturing your family interacting with each other and showing each other love. This means, they don’t have to be looking at the camera! They can be looking at you, your partner, their siblings. We’ll try to get them giggling and snuggling and really showcase the love. Not sure what lifestyle photography is? Read more about it here.

6. “I don’t have time for a family photo shoot” “I can’t afford family photos”

Neither of these worries should be the reason that you don’t get family photos take with your kids. In order to improve access for everyone to record their family in professional photos, Eickhoff Photography offers mini sessions on select days a couple of times per year. These sessions are 1/3 to 1/4 of the length of a full session. They cost less than a full session. They are quick, easy, and painless. Included in the mini session price, you get to pick out a few of your favorite images from a gallery. There is no obligation to make additional purchases, but if you love all of the images, you have the option to purchase more. Check out a recent in studio mini session here.

Do you have a concern that I haven’t discussed here? Reach out and let me know. I would love to help you have a wonderful, comfortable experience and minimize your stress. Then we can capture gorgeous photos of you and your family to document how your life is today, create the next piece of wall art for your family photo wall, or get a jump start on your end of year holiday card by checking “family photos” off the list.
